Liberty Life Yoga is a very small, but growing, mobile yoga company. Our teachers are all so different in terms of personalities, backgrounds and training, but this is what we want. The purpose of Liberty Life Yoga is to allow people to feel connected to local communities by providing physical, mental and spiritual opportunities so that every person in attendance feels a sense of belonging. Our focus on small class sizes means that every person feels comfortable, attendees know each others’ names and there is a feeling of community.
Liberty Life Yoga started through a question: Where can we offer accessible yoga to people who want something different than a studio experience? We have been working with condos and community spaces to create an opportunity for people who want small class sizes, more one-on-one attention—and a much lower price point. We offer many events throughout Toronto, including corporate yoga, private yoga and group classes at condos in Liberty Village. We’re hoping to continue to branch out and grow, and we’re looking forward to that process.
We started offering our free Yoga in the Park classes last summer in partnership with Find Me A Condo. The team approached us about hosting outdoor classes and offered to support us by providing water stations, music and snacks for participants. Yoga in the Park is back again this year, and now we have Liberty Village CARES and New Leaf Foundation on board to add a fundraising aspect to the initiative (donations are not mandatory).
We are strong believers in community, in coming together and in giving back; this is our way of doing that in a community that has embraced us with open arms.
Our Yoga in the Park classes are very relaxed and are open to all levels. We aim to provide an environment where folks can come together, enjoy the outdoors, get moving and then continue their day. Currently, yoga classes are held on Sundays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Liberty Village Park (across from 75 East Liberty St.). Each class has two teachers: one instructing the class and one walking around to support the participants.
If you’re planning to attend, make sure to bring along a mat, a water bottle and anything else you might need—sunscreen, snacks, a friend! (Pro tip: If you don’t have a mat, just let the instructors know. They tend to have a few extra on hand for borrowing.)
We are so excited to be back for another summer offering these free classes in the park. We’re looking forward to getting to know new people, having some fun, smiling and enjoying the sunshine.
